Social media is a mainstream part of modern day life. We use Facebook for friends and family, LinkedIn for work and networking, Twitter for news and information, YouTube for video sharing, Instagram for publishing photos, etc. But what happens to all of these social media accounts after death?
Facebook and Instagram are ahead of their peer networks by offering the option to memorialize accounts of deceased users (see the FAQ here). However, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others have yet to introduce a memorialization option. Even famously deceased users like Ben Breedlove who posted these amazing YouTube videos are not acknowledged properly in their profile.
Do you want to change the social network policies so every social media user has the option to memorialize their accounts with dignity? Let's create awareness and bring this issue to the attention of Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others with the hashtags #MemorializeMe #MemorializationMovement #SocialMediaMemorial and #ProfilePeace!
